Welshpool and Llanrwda, Wales 2006

These are images from our September 2006 holiday in Wales. We started off in Welshpool, staying with some friends and we took ourselves off each day of our stay. On the first day we walked alongside the Montgomery Canal, which is less than a mile from where they live.
We started at Bridge 116, which is just after Huelwen Wharf and followed the towpath towards Aardlen. We walked up around the bend just after Moors Farm Lift Bridge (No. 114) and got a view over the Severn Valley. We spotted much wildlife along the way, dragonflies in various colours and sizes, Heron's as well as the normal countryside animals and smells.
On the second day we went down to the Elan Valley and drove alongside the dams (the dams that were used when testing the bombs used by the Dambusters in World War II. We started off from Rhayader and headed for the top of the series of reservoirs and the Craig Goch Dam. Then on to Pen-Y-Garreg, then the submerged dam and finally heading down to Caban Coch and the visitor centre. Certainly a place to spend more time.
