This was the Club's project for the year in 2005. A member was asked to come up with a picture and to pass it on to another member. The second person would look at the picture and take an element of it and produce another image, that second image would be passed on to a third member with the first image being given to the Secretary for safe keeping until December. The third person would do the same as the second person, examine the image they are given and produce another from an element of that image to pass on and the image they were given passed to the Secretary. All pictures were then displayed at the December meeting, when everyone got to see the images in the order that they were produced.

Mock Monet by Mike Barton
Mike took this picture in a public garden in Dorset during August 2003 on a digital camera - Nikon Coolpix 3500.
When he took the image his immediate thoughts were of Monet's watercolour and thought that he would some Photoshop wizardry to emulate it.
He never actually did anything with it until he saw an image of Peter Longs at Christmas 2004, so he decided then that he would work on this for the first image.

Monday, 17 March, 2008 22:58 rs ago Terry and I went to Whitby for a few days. I have been wanting to go there for many years so when we purchased a reliable car we went. We spent a very enjoyable few days and I managed to go to the Frank Sutcliffe Gallery where I purchased a cd showing 135 of his photographs. He is one of my favourite photographers. As luck would have it, at that time there was a replica of the ship Endeavour berthed and so naturally I took a few snaps, one of which I have printed for our "Chinese Whisper Image".

Bridge House, Lewes by Roger Humphries
After attending a Quest photographic course in Seaford, we stayed on a few days to explore the local area. When we awoke on the Sunday morning to dull wet weather we decided the day could be best be spent exploring the neighbouring town of Lewes, famous for its many ancient buildings. Towards the end of the day we found ourselves at the lower end of the town near the Brewery. For a short while the skies cleared and the sun came out. Starved of photographic opportunity all day I could not resist the sunlight on this house. The house was situated at the entrance to the brewery and appeared to belong to it.
The image was taken with a Bronica RF645 on Velvia 50. The transparency was scanned and printed digitally.

A few weeks ago one of my colleague, Zongyin, asked me 'What was D-Day?' He's Chinese and from Shanghai. So I offered to show him some of the local connection to that momentous event. We ended up in Southwick, a village I've travelled through many many times, but never actually stopped in and looked around. Very interesting it was to! The different styles of houses, the thatched roofs, the village shop, the pump on the green, all the doors painted the same colour and so on, Zongyin's camera never left his hand ( or should I have said, his eye!).
What chaught my eye was the notice board on the wall of the 'The Golden Lion' pub! So here it is for you ! Make of it what you will !! Good luck.

Port Solent Marina by Trevor Muston
Picking on some of the cuttings used, I can include those elements in this image. Without giving too much away at this stage, I know that at least one of the elements happened in this area and there are several establishments plying their trade here.
Value-wise, there is a lot of money tied up around this Marina, both on the water and on land. One could argue that it might be immoral to have so many vessels around that are only used for short spells of time, yet then again we have so much free time these days, we need something to do. And let's face it I am deadly jealous.
The image was one of several taken on a club outing in July of 2005 at Port Solent. This was a fairly straight shot, with the colour removed, apart from one small part, which was left with colour. I did wonder about reversing the image so that the one piece would have been in black and white. I am sure that by the time that you see this I will have come up with other variations.
The image was taken with a Sony Cybershot, Digital Compact camera.

Chinese Whispers by Sandra Humphries
When I received Trevor's image my first idea was to get away from the obvious. On examining the photograph I heard a very quiet whisper, but I was unable to follow this up due to lack of time.
I then started thinking laterally and came up with another idea which took me along Albert Road.
I found a lot of suitable images, but when I examined this photograph I heard so many whispers it amounted to a shout.
Taken on a Pentax Super A camera with a 50mm lens and Fuji Sensia 100ASA slide film.

Moving House by Peter Long
My Daughters furniture and assets stowed in my garage, filling it top to bottom during her house move in August/September of this year.
It was taken as a record of the event and as a link to Sandra's image of the second hand shops in Albert Road where some of the contents of the garage may end up.
It was taken in September when the sun was low enough to illuminate the front of my garage, which fortunately faces south.
It was taken with my Fuji S3000 digital and hand held.
The picture links the second hand items displayed in Sandra's image being a conglomeration of items of various shapes at angles and shadows all as they were bundled in to the garage in a totally random order. The colour image was taken and of interest converted into B/W to see if the impact of the photo had changed.
I leave you to be the iudge of that .
